When it’s Always the Last Thing You Try
Hey there,
Pilates Movement Therapy is often one of the last thing’s my student’s have tried. They’ve been to countless doctors appointments, been referred to specialists, have tried massage, chiropractor, physical therapy and sometimes even surgery. When their pain continues to disrupt their everyday life, keeping them from doing the things they love, they feel frustrated, ignored and often gaslighted by the medical providers that have failed to help them.
Pilates Movement Therapy can be the missing puzzle piece from your team of medical providers. When we address what’s causing the issue in the first place, like long standing postural habits, muscle weakness and imbalances, then we have a shot at getting relief that will last. I absolutely do endorse bodywork as a puzzle piece! And sometimes it is one of the the things that works. But, if we rely ONLY on bodywork and the pain keeps returning, then we are not taking the power into our own hands to get to the root of the issue. There are often emotional components to pain as well, and I won’t pretend that movement is that magical singular solution. That's why I also incorporate nervous system work. Yet, movement is important and we must move to improve, and we can learn to move better and more efficiently, setting us up for the best possible outcomes.
With Pilates Movement Therapy, I teach you awareness that will empower you to make lasting changes in your body. I don’t do it for you, I teach you how to notice, sense and feel when movement and posture are coming together seamlessly. Everyday my students tell me how different they feel not only at the end of each session, but continuously each week they feel better and better when they commit to their movement practice both in 1:1, reset movements at home, and small group trainings and/or online classes. Of course there will be life happenings that cause us to backslide that affect our consistency, but guess what - my students know what to do when this happens! We create a plan for YOU in Pilates Movement Therapy. It just very well could be the last thing you try, because we know it works.
